topic Wiring jumper from R to RC in Nest Thermostats

I’m trying to determine if the Google Nest thermostat is compatible with my hvac wiring. I have a small clip jumping R wire to RC. The Nest thermostat only has an R terminal. Can I just connect the R wire to R terminal in the Nest thermostat as I was told the “jumper” is internal?

Hi 930stevenwelch,

Thanks for posting. That's correct, you can connect the wire to the "R" terminal on the thermostat base. You don't need to use the jumper wire.

For a visual guide on installation, you can check out this helpful video: How to install and set up Nest Thermostat.

Let me know if you have any other questions, I'm happy to help.

Best regards,

Jenny
