topic Low Battery for 2nd generation thermostat in Nest Thermostats

Good evening all. I have just moved into a new home and the owner has left me her nest learning thermostat. I have tried to set it up on line but it needs an entry key. When I go into settings and press on the best app it says low battery and won’t come up with anything when I press it. I have spent hours trying to figure this out and feel like throwing it out the window lol. The kids and I are cold but I don’t know what to do. I think it’s 2nd generation. It’s plugged in but I don’t think it’s charging as no green light. Just wondering if anyone can help@

HI Peachy1

Thank you so much for sharing your concerns with the community. Based on the information you provided me, it seems like your thermostat is getting low power, don’t worry, let's follow these instructions to get back on track.

Ensure that the Thermostat is charged to 3.8 V or more: Verify this in the thermostat settings > technical information > power. (if the Thermostat is not showing the recommended level, try to charge up the device for about 2 hours and ensure that the Thermostat is receiving enough power).

Add your Nest thermostat to the Nest app: You can add your thermostat to an account to control it from your phone, change settings remotely, get important notifications and more.

keep me updated,

Daniel
