Can't setup sensors with Nest Smart Programmable Wifi Thermostat

I have a Nest Thermostat E that I’ve been using for several months. I purchased a temperature sensor for my upstairs bedroom, so I can get the temperature readings that I need when I’m in my room.

Hey everyone,

I have a Nest Smart programable wifi thermostat and it works perfectly and shows up in the Google Home app (along with my other smart devices) on my iPhone.

When I try to install the Nest Temperature Sensor, it tells me I need to set it up in the Nest App and directs me to add my Thermostat. When I try to add the Thermostat to the Nest app, it sends me back to the Home app.

I can’t add the sensor through the Home app only the Nest app. The Nest app won’t let me add the Thermostat, because it’s already installed and sends me to the Home app. And around and around in circles. Super dumb and very very frustrating.

Can someone please help?

Thank you for posting here in the community. I´m sorry that you are unable to set up your Nest Sensor along with your Nest Smart programmable WiFi thermostat. This could be frustrating to try to install it, then it takes back and forth from both apps and is never set up. Help´s here.

Unfortunately, the Nest sensor isn´t compatible with your Nest Smart programmable WiFi thermostat; this only works with previous models like your Nest Thermostat E and Nest Thermostat Learning. However, you can share feedback to work on an update to improve the Nest Sensor in the future.
