I went to my Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd Generation, I disabled all features and then went back to the main screen and was able to full select system mode; Heat or Cooling, then set the desired temperature and the system worked fine.

I’ve attempted to disable every last bit of the “learning” functionality on this thermostat, and yet it still routinely refuses to do the one thing it must do: Ensure thermal homeostasis.

I don’t (nor does anyone else) need a thermostat to guess what temp I *might* want at such and such a time. I will handle that.

A thermostat has ONE JOB: Hit a target temp and keep it there. Maybe add a little hysteresis but that’s it.

So. Has anyone figured out how to turn this **bleep** thing into just a plain, simple thermostat that maintains a temp and that’s it? Or is it always going to be guessing what it thinks I want?
