Go to the thermostat in the Nest app, open the settings, choose Manage Sensors, enable the sensor schedule, and then select which sensor you want to use for each of the four predefined time periods. It's almost disgustingly rudimentary for something that is obviously variable for each household -- you can't fine-tune the hours, and you can't schedule differently on different days -- but it's better than having to manually change sensors multiple times each day. (I've long since given up hoping Google will actually make this more configurable.)

Don't know why the "specialist" didn't tell you this. 🤷

I have a house with two air conditioning systems, one for the master bedroom and office, one for the rest of the house. I work from home in the office.

I have a temperature sensor in the office, connected to the thermostat in the bedroom.

I would like to have the Nest use the sensor in the office during office hours and the sensor in the thermostat itself outside office hours.

I can't seem to make that happen. Any ideas? The only thing I've been able to do is switch them manually every day, which is a bit of a pain.

Hi @radiogooroo,

Thanks for reaching out! It sounds like you're looking for a more automated way to manage your home's temperature based on your work schedule. That's a great idea!

While Nest doesn't currently offer a direct way to switch between sensors based on a schedule, here are a few potential workarounds:

1. Create Multiple Schedules:

Schedule 1: For office hours, create a schedule based on the office temperature sensor.

Schedule 2: For non-office hours, create a schedule based on the thermostat's built-in sensor.

Manual Switching: You'll need to manually switch between these schedules daily.

2. Utilize Nest Learning Features (if your thermostat is the Nest Lerning Thermostat):

Over Time: The Nest thermostat may learn your preferences and adjust accordingly, even without explicit scheduling.

Experiment: Try adjusting the temperature setpoints and see if the system adapts to your desired comfort levels.

3. Provide Feedback:

Share Your Idea: Your feedback is important to us.

Please help us improve by filling out the feedback form.

Those are the options I could offer at the momet based on the infomration you share. Please let me know this information was use full.

Best regards,

Josh
