I've been using the above picture setup for about year I think it makes my heatpump work overtime in the winter even after turning off heat pump balance with a lockout temp of -8c

what do you think about using dual fuel and w1 instead of single fuel with w2/aux with heatpump

Any chance someone can help with wiring my google nest to see only my electric furnance that is wired as aux

My heat pump died and tired of struggling to the settings to keep the thermostat to keep using aux heat

I have set the heatpump lock out to the highest above 0C but would like to use only my aux electric funrance for a while until I can get the heatpump fixed

I know how to turn off heat pump balance but it seems the google nest gets it's charge from the Y wire and I have contstant low battery or it runs out of power at night and i have to do the settings all over again

looking for a way to wire the google nest to see only my electric furnace which is in the w2/aux and keep a charge

as if I only have that one source of heat

I have a heat pump (AC/Heat) and an electric funrace as secondary

This isn't a recommended fix but it will work until you can fix the heat pump.

Do this at your own risk.

Remove and tape off the Y1, G, and OB wires individually.

Move the W2/AUX wire to W1.

You now have a heat-only system

I was thinking what if I leave the y1 g and ob as is and move the w2 to the w1 and set the thermostat to duel fuel then set it to use alternate always?

You want to use the W2/AUX terminal.

Dual fuel is for when you have a heat pump and a gas furnace. You have an electric furnace so single fuel is the correct choice
