As an HVAC professional, I have to call out how ridiculous the Nest Thermostat's Auto-Schedule feature is. No matter what I do, it keeps turning itself back on. I’ve disabled Auto-Schedule, but somehow, it still decides to adjust the temperature on its own. One minute it’s off, the next it’s blasting heat at 77°F, making my house unbearably hot or freezing cold in the cooling season when it, once again, just turns itself on and sets some low temperature at its own discretion..

This isn’t just a minor inconvenience—it's a serious issue. A thermostat should do what I tell it to do, not what it "thinks" is best. The fact that I have to keep checking and adjusting it defeats the entire purpose of having a smart thermostat.

The only reason I even have this thing is because it came with my ADT security system. Honestly, a basic $40 thermostat would be better because when I turn it off, it stays off. Nest is running up people’s electric bills with these unwanted features that can’t seem to be fully disabled.

Stop overengineering thermostats. Let the customer decide how they want to control their own home comfort. Not everyone wants or needs Auto-Schedule.

If anyone else has found a permanent fix for this, I’m all ears. This is beyond frustrating.

Hi fasterblue,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand that your Google Nest Thermostat is changing the temperature automatically, and I'm happy to assist you!

I recommend checking if you have any active schedules and then restarting the schedule on your Google Nest Thermostat device. To do this, please follow these steps:

On your thermostat device:

Go to Settings > Schedule.

Check if there are any unwanted schedules and remove them.

Finally, go to Settings > Reset > Schedule and restart.

Let me know if this helps!

Regards,

Manuel
