I have a nest thermostat 3rd gen. It emits heat when AC is on. When I put heat it emits heat and works fine.

old Thermostat wiring & Nest Thermostat 3rd gen - https://imgur.com/a/dws2M8w

Any idea if you have a heat pump?

I can't read what the terminal the orange wires were connected to on the original thermostat.

If you can access the furnace/air handler, look there and see where the orange wire is connected.

If it is a heat pump, moving it won't hurt anything.
