Nest app not controlling thermostat

The nest app on my iPhone and IPad does not control the thermostat but changes done on the thermostat show up on the app.
if I use Google home, that controls the thermostat.
I have had this thermostat for years.

Thanks for reaching out. I understand that you can't control your Google Nest thermostat device using the Nest app, but it shows the changes made directly on the Google Nest thermostat device. What type of Google Nest thermostat do you have?
When did this inconvenience start?
Have you noticed any error messages or codes on the Nest or Google Home app?
