    <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi,&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I bought three new 4th gen nest thermostats for my home. Two are set up and running perfectly fine. For the third one, I am having issues setting it up. I go through the process the same as the others, but when I am done, it just shows as a “nest thermostat” in my devices instead of the name I gave it (as the other two show). When I click into this thermostat from the Google home app, I get a blank black screen. I cannot control the device and I cannot remove the device.&amp;nbsp;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I have tried hard resets, factory resets, unplugging it, etc. countless times. I have deleted my entire home in the Google home app and reset up everything again. Nothing works. The Google support rep I spoke with on the phone couldn’t figure it out either. It has been escalated but I am not going to wait for them to get back to me in a few days. Anyone have any suggestions? Will just be returning it if I can’t figure it out tonight.&amp;nbsp;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I just bought a house with two 4th gen nest thermostats and I am having the exact same problem.&amp;nbsp; Since I am not the original purchaser&amp;nbsp; of this thermostat I don't know if I can get any help.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing some issues with your Nest Thermostat (4th gen) devices since you're getting a black screen when tapping the devices in the Google Home app. I'm happy to assist you.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;a href="https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/762087"&gt;@RGKessinger1019&lt;/a&gt;, I appreciate all your efforts trying to fix this issue by factory resetting the device, unplugging it, deleting the app and re-adding the device back.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;DIV&gt;We are aware of reports that users began reporting an issue around July 12, 2025, where they are unable to open the thermostat controller in the Google Home app after pairing a Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen. Engineering is actively investigating the issue. I recommend you stay tuned to our social media platforms, as this is something that may be solved as soon as possible.&lt;/DIV&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;No updates. I plan to call again today. Shouldn’t take over a week to fix and they should at a minimum send a replacement for the one that isn’t connecting seeing how the other two I have connected fine.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
