How to tell in Google Home if the air conditioner is on?

I had to upgrade from my gen 1 nest to a gen 4.

Found out that I can no longer use the Nest app for the gen 4. From the Nest app, when the system was cooling it turned blue. When the system was heating, orange.

How do you know what the thermostat is doing in Google Home? There’s no indication that it’s cooling / heating / off??

It’s all gray. No color change so I can’t tell if it’s on or not.

Thermostat off…

Thermostat on…. Slightly less grey / dark than the “off” status.

It is was clear in the original Nest app…Original Nest app appearence

I was forced to buy a new Nest product. Stating that the Gen 1 Nest I have had for 20 years would no longer work on the app. It’s my upstairs thermostat. And I can’t go up and down the stairs each time to check on it. Hence why I use Nest and the Nest app.
So, what I have tried is to think about buying a whole new product rather than continuing to use Google. Which I hate their “Google Home” app.

Or is there way to have the development team to re make the app for a better user experience? Or get my new gen 4 thermostat on the original Nest app?

Also Google app doesn’t show humidity nor current outside temperature. Which would be amazing information.
