I replaced the damaged Gen 3 thermostat with a Gen 4 and am now longer getting filter change notifications despite having turned on in the app.

Thank you for posting in the community! I understand that after upgrading to a Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen), your filter change reminders are not received. I’ll be happy to resolve this situation with you.

Please keep in mind that each time you change your system's air filter, you should reset the Filter Reminders so your thermostat knows when to schedule the next one. Note that you will receive these notifications directly in the Google Home app rather than on the thermostat itself or the Nest app.

To better assist you, could you confirm if you have already reset the reminders in the app? If not, please refer to this article for detailed guidance: Air filters and filter reminders. You can adjust how often you receive reminders based on your system's runtime.

Additionally, I suggest the following steps:

Ensure you have the latest version of the Google Home app.

Filter change notifications are enabled on Google home, notifications on my phone are enabled for the Google home app. Google home app is up to date.

Hi Hal-R,

Thank you for confirming the suggested settings parameters. Given that everything looks correct on your end, it is possible that the app is not registering the setting correctly.

Please try this: Open the Google Home app, tap on your thermostat, then check the Bell icon (Notifications/Feed) at the top right, rather than just the settings menu. Some users have found the filter settings are only accurately reflecting/saving there.

Additionally, could you please tell me which month you last set the filter to? Sometimes re-entering this date can trigger the system to start the timer again.

In the meantime, also please restart the app and then restart the thermostat. This workaround will force the communication between the app and your thermostat.
