Somehow, my Nest Thermostat dropped off my Google Home app. I tried to restore it by "add device", but it could not connect and said that it needed a "factory reset. After digging around on the internet for a day looking for a way around doing so, I gave in and did a factory reset. When I set up the Thermostat, it automatically set the time it went back to the "Comfort" for 6am.

When I try to change that time for a later hour, the app is saying that there is a conflict and won't allow me to change the time. I guess I could remove the batteries for a while and see if it will forget the settings that it retains but do not show on the app.

This Nest Thermostat has worked reliably since it was set up three years ago. Maybe someone else has seen this happen and can share how to fix this. Thanks in advance.

Hi @Kwillis,

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand that after a factory reset and reconnecting your Nest Thermostat to the Google Home app, you’re encountering a conflict error when trying to adjust your "Comfort" schedule from the default 6:00 AM setting. I also appreciate the information you’ve shared about the time that the Nest Thermostat has been reliably working. No worries, I’m happy to assist you.

This error typically occurs when a new schedule entry overlaps with an existing setpoint. Since a factory reset on the device doesn't always clear the schedule stored in the Google Home app cloud, you may have "ghost" settings causing the conflict. To resolve this, please try these steps:

Open the Google Home app.

Tap Home, go to Climate and select your thermostat.

Tap Schedules.

Delete all existing setpoints for the day you are trying to edit. (Tap on each individual circle/entry and select 'Delete').

Once the day is clear, try adding your preferred “Comfort” time again.

You can check the following article for more information: Temperature schedules for the Nest thermostat.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
