Google home so no longer sees my thermostat

After using my Google Home app for some years with my Nest thermostat, now suddenly the app wants me to reconnect because it doesn’t see it on the network.

Do you by any chance have an older thermostat? The Nest Learning Thermostat (1st gen, 2011), Nest Learning Thermostat (2nd gen, 2012), or Nest Learning Thermostat (2nd gen, Europe version, 2014)?

Thanks for posting in the community! I'm sorry that you are unable to see your thermostat in the Google Home app. I can imagine how concerning this is, especially since your thermostat has been working properly for years. Don't worry, help is here!

To better understand the situation, I would like to ask the following questions:

Which Nest Thermostat model do you have? How to tell which Nest thermostat you have.
Do you see any message on your thermostat display or on the Google Home app?
Does the thermostat appear as "Offline," or is it completely missing from the app? If it is not connected, please try the steps in this article: Troubleshoot your Nest thermostat is offline.
Have you made any changes related to your WiFi network? Such as changing the internet service provider, password, name of the router, or something similar.
Have you already tried troubleshooting steps? If so, please list them.

Hi Anna, thanks for your response. I'll answer your questions:

1. I have the Nest Thermostat, the first edition, although it's black, not the color in the photo on the link.

2. There is no message relating to my problem on the thermostat itself.

3. The thermostat is completely missing from the app. Now when I open the app, it's as if there was never a thermostat linked in the app.

4. I have made no such changes to my wifi settings.

5. I have tried the troubleshooting steps, but found they led me either nowhere, in circles, or to confusion.

Ensure your thermostat is no longer connected to your account by following the steps in this article: Restart or reset a Nest thermostat.
Set up your thermostat again in the Google Home app. You can follow the guide here: Get started with your Nest Thermostat and Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen).
