Hello,

I forgot nest pin and does not have app.

how do I reset my pin?

Was your thermostat ever connected to the app? If it's still connected to Wi-Fi, you should be able to use the app to reset the PIN?

Remove the nest face from the base. Plug the nest into your computer with a mini USB cable. Wait for the nest device to mount as drive. Open the drive. You should have a file called "Technical Info.plist"

Make a new file in that drive called ".dropbox". Paste the following contents into the file and save:

</dict>
</dict>
</plist>

Unplug the Nest from the computer and plug it into the base unit. It will prompt that its going to reset to defaults. Give it a few minutes. It'll reset to defaults - then just go through the on-screen guided setup.

This would be a lot easier if Google just POSTS this information in a help page instead of making you go through their technical support chat/call.

Hello. I have tried several usb cables and 2 laptops with no recognition of the usb. What else can I do? Thank you!
