Nest Humidifier Control

Our Nest turns our humidifier on and off when needed. Here is the issue. Our Nest thermostat is on the 1st floor and our Aprilaire 700 is in the basement and they read different R/H percentages. The Nest normally reads R/H less than the Aprilaire 700. So If I have the Nest set to turn on at 45 R/H, the Nest will turn on the blower when the Nest humidity is below 45 RH. The Aprilaire sees 50% R/H (basement) and will not open the solenoid to start the water dripping and the Aprilaire 700’s mini fan does not start. The result is just just my HVAC fan turning on with no humidity action. I have also done a test on the humidifier and it working as advertised.

What am i missing here?

I am not good to go. I am a little disappointed that Nest cannot set the humidity based on outside temperatures. This would be such an easy thing to do; Nest wouldn’t even need a probe…the temp can be obtained from the internet. I am not risking damage to my home due to condensation. I disconnected the humidifier from Nest.
