topic Nest E (gen 1) has started to delay heating regularly (has a C-wire) in Nest Thermostats

For the first winter since installing my Nest E three years ago, I've started seeing the "Delayed For..." message on the display when heating (high efficiency gas-fired boiler), and the History display in the Nest app shows a lot of narrow strips of cycled heating interspersed with the longer runs. I went into the tech data in the thermostat and the battery appears to be getting charged to enough power from the C-wire. What would suddenly be causing this new behavior, and how can I remedy it? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Having the same issue with what sounds like an identical setup. Hoping this is some sort of software bug and not a random issue with my C wire. Following.
