How do you correct it if it’s too high by like 20 degrees. This is “all of the sudden”. Been working for like a year

I purchased a Nest Learning Thermostat a few months ago and have to set the thermostat at 71 degrees to get the room heat to maintain 68 degrees. I have put a few reference thermometers next to the thermostat and they all read 68 while the Nest reads 71.

When I look at my heating history it shows that I have been keeping my house set to 71 degrees, which is wrong

Model Display=3.7 SW 6.2-27

I see people have been reporting this issue for years with no satisfaction from Nest

Why can't a simple temperature calibration be added to the setup to allow the customer to correct the reading, as can be done on cheap mechanical thermostats ?

All that would be needed is an offset number running from perhaps -5 to +5 degrees. After reading the room temperature , the software could add the offset factor and proceed from there. In my case the number would be set to +3. Problem solved
