I recently purchased a Nest (2020) thermostat for my condo. My condo (which is new) uses baseboard radiators (central boiler) for heat and has no air conditioning. The previous wire configuration utilized the Y and R wires, with the common wire unused (inside the wall).

After completing the setup, I realize the unit considers this a cooling only setup (due to the Y wire). Which doesn’t function correctly. I assume the previous wire configuration on the basic thermostat was incorrect and that the Y wire is in fact the W wire.

Therefore, I switched the Y and W, factory reset the Nest, and setup using W,R, and C. Unfortunately, upon placing the Nest onto the base during that setup step, it won’t connect to the Nest app to complete the setup.

Note, if I remove the Nest from the base on the wall during setup, it will connect to the app, but as soon as you replace it on the base it disconnects and will not connect to the app.

Any thoughts/suggestions for this issue?
