Have an Aprilaire bypass humidifier connected to hot air gas furnace. Removed Aprilaire humidity control and wired Nest thermostat myself to control humidity instead, following this video: https://tinyurl.com/2hwp5e7d

Also changed water feed to humidifier from cold line to hot line from water heater. Everything works beautifully, easily adjusted to keep home humidity between ############% this cold winter in NJ.

Can't edit above message for some reason. "###############%" should read "thirty-five to forty %" (used numerals in original).

Also -- my Aprilaire humidstat was situated directly above my thermostat, making moving the wire necessary to connect to the thermostat a fairly easy task. Figuring out where to change wires in the furnace is a relatively simple matter; those not comfortable with tracing the correct wire and reconnecting to the appropriate terminal in the furnace should seek out a professional.
