Early-On feature not working

We've had the thermostat for two weeks now and it still isn't turning on the heat soon enough to get it to temperature at the set time. "Early-on" is turned on and the "Choose Maximum Duration" is set for 5 hours. BTW - as I'm typing the house is now up to temperature - 1.5 hours LATE.

Hello,

One thing to consider it that it takes some time for Early On to learn how long it takes to raise the temperature in a particular house based on the outdoor temperature and the number of degrees it needs to be raised. For example if the temp needs to rise 5° F and it is only 15° outside it will learn it takes XX minutes, but if it is 50° outside it may take half that time.

Do you know if it is trying? Let's say you want it to warm to 70° starting at 8:00 am in the morning. At night the temperature is set to 65°. If before 8:00am the heating starts working and the temperature starts to rise above 65° it is probably trying. If at 7:59 AM it is still 65° in the house it probably is not.

Thank you for the explanation.

We had a 20 degree cold snap the other morning and the house wasn't heating. LSS - Last month we had a new heat pump with gas furnace backup installed. The technician forgot to turn on the gas furnace so the heat pump was trying to do all the work.
