Sorry to hear about what's going on. I want to check on this further.

A few questions — do you have a migrated Google account? Are you trying to invite a personal Gmail account without any restrictions? Also, what message are you getting when trying to invite an email address?

Hi the message was “can’t add at this time” or something close to that; suggesting impermanence ; I have since confirmed that the email address was a google/gmail address but not a …gmail.com ending address. Could that be the issue?
I was trying to add my tenant and at this point we are giving up and just going to try to reset the thermostat so the tenant can use it even though I will lose visibility to the functionality of my hvac system (and messages about filters). So this is not an acceptable solution but I want my tenant to be able to set and chel in o the heat as well. If you can help please suggest, thanks!

Thanks for these added details. Yes, having a Google account that does not end with an @Gmail.com means that it is a Google Workspace account which I'm afraid can't be added as members of a household or invite members to join a structure. We suggest using another email address with @Gmail.com domain instead. Rest assured that we'll take this as feedback as we're always on the lookout for ways to improve.
