Our boiler installer believes that the Nest Learning Thermostat has a model that can be run on battery power only (rather than wired). Is this the case, or do they all need a mains connection?

Hey @apdf,

Thank you for reaching out. In Europe, the Nest learning Thermostats are powered by the batteries, but the batteries need to be charged from the mains. If you don't want to have it wired to the wall, you can purchase a stand and move it around the house, but it still needs to be plugged into a power socket to maintain the power, otherwise it starts to lose charge. Let me know if you need more information.
