So I know I need to reset the thermostat. But I don't know about the wires. Does the thermostat know the wire configuration? I am afraid if I reset the thermostat I may render it inoperable. What do I need to know before I start into the process of setting up my already installed Nest Thermostat?

Hi ShelleyNM,

Thanks for reaching out and we're sorry for the delay.

Your Nest Thermostat can detect your wire configuration, check out this link for more information. Take a photo of your current wire configuration.

Before you move on to reset the Nest Thermostat, keep in mind that all of its saved settings and temperature schedule will be removed.

Make sure to check this link before you reset your Nest Thermostat.

I hope it helps.

Best regards,

Ryan
