Nest Thermostat Wiring

After installation of my nest, the fan is still running even though I have turned the Nest off. I have a picture of my wire setup below. Is there anything wrong or mising with the wiring connection?

It would be helpful if we could see how you wired the Nest. Also, the pic of the old back plate is blurry and we cannot see the letters the wires are going to.

I'm going to take a guess on the wiring.

Try this wiring

Green - G to G

White - W to W1

Yellow - Y to Y1

Red - R to Rc (jumper to RC not needed)

I always suggest that you install a C wire to stop any problems down the road.

Does the fan turn off if you remove the Green wire from the G terminal of the Nest?

thutong2002, you may try the wiring guide provided by Patrick above. However if you encounter some concerns, please provide a clearer photo of your original thermostat wires showing the terminal labels so we could take a closer look at it.

Hi thutong2002,

Thanks for the reply and we're sorry for the delay.

One suggestion is to have C (common) wire to be connected on your Nest Thermostat. If there's a unused wire from your HVAC unit, which can be checked by looking at the main control board. We could use it as a common wire.

Thank you for your response Ryan.

After I purchased a 24 volt transformer, C wire adapter, my setup is working smoothly. I have a jumper going from Rc and Rh and the C wire connecting C and Rc. There are a lot of wires and so the setup does not look very tidy. I was wondering if there was a way I could have it running with less wires.

Hi thutong2002,

Thanks for the reply and for including a photo with it.

It's great to hear that your system is working smoothly now. I looked at the photo and I can see additional wire exposed on the wall. You could use a cord/wire hider that matches your wall color as there's no other way to lessen the wire coming into your Nest Thermostat. This is widely available from any hardware store.
