Wiring issue

My current thermostat for my AC has 6 wires. Two white, two red, one blue and one green. One red and one blue are connected to C. Two white wires are connected to Y. Red is connected to Rh and green is connected to G.

This thermostat controls central air conditioning only. How do I wire my Nest Learning thermostat (3rd generation) ?

What is the make and model of your AC? Also, could you provide a clear photo of your original thermostat wires showing the terminal labels?

Hi Melba,

I have a Trane Air Exchanger Model TAM9A0C6 0V51DA . The Air Conditioner is an American Standard Model 4A7A6061 J1000A . Both were installed last spring .

I have attached photos of the wiring on the existing American Standard thermostat also installed last spring.

Hi JohnR9,

Thanks for being here in the Google Nest Community.

By looking at the photo, those white and blue red wires are connected to just one terminal on the old thermostat. Since we only need to have one wire to the Nest Thermostat terminal, we'd like to check how these are connected to the main terminal block on the AC unit. This way, we'll be able to tell which wire is connected to what terminal.

Hi,

I checked the condenser unit and the air handler and I do not see any external wiring connections. I would have to remove part of either unit to see how they are wired. Do you need the connections of both or just one of the units ?
