So it's been an entire week, and I haven't received one single idea here. I though there were experts on these forums. Have I stumped everyone?

I am so glad I didn't listen to the rep that I chatted with last week, because it would have been a waste of a couple hundred dollars - and who can afford that these days? Over the weekend, I went through the process again - rebooting my router, resetting the Nest thermostat all to no avail. I started researching new thermostats, and took mine off the wall to look at the wiring (which I had done a week ago as well, this wasn't the first time)... plugged it back in, and thought "what the heck, give it one more go".... and, it connected!

I wish I knew why and could offer advice for anyone else that comes across this problem, but I have absolutely no idea why it worked this last time - but happy it's working.

Good day! I've searched the forums and can't quite find an answer to my specific issue.

I've got a Nest (2nd Gen I believe) that was installed years ago. It's always worked just fine, and I have never had issues with it connecting to the internet, even though I've changed providers several times and have had to reconnect it to a new wifi router.

This week I subscribed to Verizon's LTE Home Internet services. I've got the gateway, activated & connected, and have several devices connected, including laptop, smart TV, Android phone, and a smart plug (by Geeni).

I can't seem to get my Nest Thermostat connected. It sees the wifi network, but when I attempt to connect I keep getting "Failed to Connect" errors. I've gone through the troubleshooting at nest.com/w2 which is really no help. Although I go through all the steps, reset the unit, reset the network settings, reset all setting, rebooted the router, and still it won't connect. I attempted to connect it to my phone's hotspot, but it wouldn't connect to it either.

Does anyone have any ideas or fixes? Any help is greatly appreciated!

-Cat

Understanding that the 2nd Gen Nest Thermostat can only connect to the 2.4Ghz signal, I disabled the 5Ghz and attempted the process again. Same results: "Failed to Connect".

Hoping someone here has seen this issue and knows what my problem is! Thanks for looking.

So, I've just spent over an hour on chat with Google Support who asked a bunch of questions, but had no resolution. Nothing I could even try. I asked that they refer my issue to a specialist group, but it would seem they don't have one, or she was unwilling to escalate my issue. Ultimately, just wants me to buy a new unit as my unit isn't under warranty. Obviously. Just buy something new.

I can't believe my unit is "bad", and that it went bad the same night I changed out my router.

Still hoping someone here might have some ideas! Thanks for reading!
