Replacement Nest Thermostat could not pair with existing Heatlink

Got a replacement thermostat (old one got wifi chip issue)

Plug in the replacement thermostat, and press the heatlink till it show a blinking blue light

Choose replacement heatlink in the thermostat, enter the heatlink code, it will try connecting it but after trying for a few minutes, it will say fail to connect heatlink wirelessly. I have try reseting both thermostat and heatlink still could not pair them

Thanks for reaching out. We're sorry to hear that. Could you tell us please when did the situation start occurring at first? I put in here some steps to help you connect back the thermostat with the Heat Link. The steps need to be fulfilled in this order only.

Before following these steps make sure of the following:

- The thermostat is connected to the base and to a power source and it's getting power (You can check in the "Technical info" option, and after that in "Power", the battery needs to be above 3.8 in order to maintain a constant connection with the Heat Link, however, if it's not, let it charge until it is).
- If you have the possibility (the thermostat is on a stand), bring the thermostat and the Heat Link as close as possible only for the pairing process, after that, you can move them anywhere in the 30 meters radius

1. Gather the 6-digit entry key located on the bottom side of Heat Link's case, near the screw that holds the case together.

2. Select the option "Replace Heat Link" on the thermostat (you will have a message saying that the thermostat failed to connect wirelessly to the heat link, you just need to continue and you will receive a screen with 4 options: check again, reset pairing, replace heat link and technical info, the correct option in the third)

3. Put the 6-digit entry key in there but don't confirm it. Just write it there and stop when you see the word "Connect" highlighted.

4. Press the "Nest" button on the Heat link and hold it for 45 seconds until you see a slowly pulsating blue light on the Heat Link. After that, wait about 5 seconds and press and hold it again for another 45 seconds until you see a slowly pulsating blue light on it.

5. Go ahead and press connect on the Thermostat's display and wait about a minute. You shall see the message "Heat link connected wirelessly" and the Heat Link's light shall be solid green. That means the devices are connected and working.

Hi,

The thermostat is hardwired, but I have try taken it out and follow all the steps

My thermostat still fail to connect to the heatlink wirelessly, and the heatlink now have a slow pulsing blue light

P.S. When I press and hole the button on the heatlink it will turn into solid blue light, then very quick flash blue light, then back to slow pulsing blue light again

Hi there, @Ireneleeyip.

You don't have to take the display off the base and try the steps with it off the base. You just have to take it off while double hard restarting it, then it needs to be put back on the base when you try to follow the steps.

Could you please try that and let me know how it went?

Hi,

This is what I did this time.

Try the wireless connection, fail, replacement heatlink code without pressing connect.

Take it off the base

Reset the heatlink twice

Put the thermostats back on the base and connect, and it try to connect for over a minute

then say fail to connect wirelessly.

The thermostat say it is connect wired, but the heatlink still showing a pulsing blue light

Thanks for trying. Just to check, do you still have the old display at the location, the one that was having difficulties connecting to Wi-Fi? If so, try setting that back up, skipping the Wi-Fi step, and see if it is able to connect to the Heat Link wirelessly.

The thermostat will work with either a wired or wireless connection, or both. Do you happen to remember if your old display was connected both wired and wirelessly?

Thanks for letting me know. I wanted to check as the old display, if still there, can cause interference and prevent the Heat Link from connecting wirelessly as well.

On the thermostat display if you go to Settings> Technical info> Heat Link, do you see the same paring key there as the one from the bottom of the Heat Link?

I have two display in my house now, but they connect to two different heatlink for different area.

The display I have issue with is a replacement from Google (old one have error code H something, lose the wifi connection)

The display is showing the same code as my heatlink (which they could connected wired, but fail to connect wirelessly)

Thank you. The base is the dount-shaped ring under the display if you plug it off.
