Go to set up the home app and it asks for a 6 digit code that is supposed to be in the apps section on the tstat but it doesn't exist. Any ideas. I also need to know how to keep it on hold on the cooling cycle for more than 24 hrs.

In answer to your 2nd question (sorry; don't know anything about setup), the Nest's name for a permanent hold is Eco Mode. Set your Eco temperature and then turn on Eco Mode (or you can do it in the other order). it will aim at that temperature until you turn off Eco mode.

In Eco mode it will not go below 76 degree's to set. I would like it to be 71 on the cooling cycle.

Hey folks,

CBFox, thanks for your assistance.

Randyben, your Nest thermostat gives you a temperature range that you can select from when you set an Eco Temperature. The Eco Temperature ranges you can choose from are large: 40-70 °F (4-21 °C) for heating mode and 76-90 °F (24-32 °C) for cooling mode.

You can set your Nest Thermostat to hold Eco Temperature in the Google Home app.

Open the Home app.

Touch and hold your thermostat's tile > tap Settings.

Tap Hold > Eco.

Select the end time you want.

You can also select None if you don’t want Eco Temperature to turn off at a set time.

Tap Start.

To learn more about Eco Temperatures and how to change settings check this article.

I hope this helps.

Best,

Yes, Randyben, I should've said: The Nest's name for a permanent hold is Eco Mode, except that unlike any other thermostat they've hobbled it so that you can only choose a permanent temperature in a certain range. If you want 71 for a long period of time you need to modify your schedule so that every set point's temperature is 71. Then when you want to go back to other temperatures you need to modify the schedule again.

Hey folks,

Thanks for this additional information, CBFox.

Randyben, just to add here, I'm afraid that the cooling temperature range for cooling is only 76-90 °F (24-32 °C) but we're always on the lookout for ways to improve. We'll definitely take this as feedback.

Stay tuned for news and updates.
