** Update

I tried to connect the 2 wires to "R" and "W" but doesnt seem to power on the Thermostat. Not sure if it is only cuz it needs the "C" cable or if I just fried my nest. 😐

We have just moved into a new place and am looking to make the home "Smart" starting with the thermostats.

These are the Honeywell knob type for floor board heaters (only heating-electric, no cooling). How do I go about replacing them? The wires aren't as malleable as shown in most of the YouTube videos. There are only 2 wires connected to "L" and "T" that's it. I don't see any other alphabets or wires elsewhere to connect. They seem like 12 gauge wires cuz I stripped atleast 1 of them to replace a few LED bulbs. Am very confused.

I have New Nest Thermostat with a mirror like face (not the costly sibling or the Nest-e). No videos are able to help my cause. Please help. 😞

Hey VigneshSan,

I wanted to follow up and see I could be of any help. Sorry to hear about the trouble you are having. Do you mind me asking if your system is 24V system? I found an article with more details on system compatibility. Please let me know if that helps, or if you have any questions from here.

Best regards,

Thanks, Jake. How do I confirm this? I do not have any place on the wire or elsewhere that clearly states this. Is there somewhere I can look for this?

Hey VigneshSan,

Taking a closer look at the article above, there is a chance you may have a high voltage system which is not compatible. These systems are usually connected using wire nuts, like the pictures you have sent above. If you review your thermostat currently installed, it should have more details on what voltage your system uses. If you are wanting to install a Nest Thermostat, I would recommend contacting an HVAC professional. They would be able to install a step-down transformer to 20-30V. I hope that helps.

Best regards,
