Schedule interval to 15 min

My daughter is sleeping in a different room as to where the thermostat is hanging. During the nights I would like her heating to be turned on now and then so that she can stay warm.

The heating in her room is really fast, so I don’t want it to be on for more than 15 minutes, otherwise she gets over heated, which is dangerous for a baby.

In the schedule I manually created I can only set the intervals at 1 hour, which is way too long. I need it to be 15 mins.

I’ve been reading online about this issue which many people have for years. My question is therefore, when will this be solved, because it is very frustrating (and in my case dangerous) and this is an easy issue fix to solve.

Regarding your question whether I still am having troubles, this is indeed still the case. The issue is still there and I still can’t schedule the heating of my baby’s room for only 15 minutes.

Nest is begging to lead me towards Hive. No heat boost option and in the schedule although you can choose quarter past or quarter too. It won't let you select these meaning 30mins or 1hr. In reality 45 mins is plenty. With energy costs soaring this needs to be fixed ASAP

I'm following this exchange and it seems that 9 months into this there has been no resolution. Jake, the simple way I can think to correct this interval problem is to either move away from the graphical interface and/or add a way to manually type the beginning and end times, with the desired temperature. This would allow the 15-minute interval that we need. I acknowledge that there may be mechanical issues with certain HVAC products that would preclude to frequent on/off cycles, so perhaps there should be a minimum to protect the equipment, but I would suspect 15 minutes would be acceptable.

Did this ever get sorted out … I’ve asked a similar question and it appears some people can schedule water heating in 15 minute increments. The best I can get is 30 mins.

how hard can it be to push a change like that out to thermostats during a software update?

strange how Nest/Google can go on about saving energy, but don’t even try to actually provide tools to make it easier

It’s now even more important that Google sort this out following the news of the ridiculous cost increases just about to hit the UK. It’s also disgraceful that they don’t even bother to reply to any of the posts on this subject on their own forum.

this seems like such an easy thing to do, and such a great way for us all to save money and energy. come on google, sort this out please!!! give us an option to choose 15min increments, or specific times.

I contacted the helpdesk and the feedback was that they decided a while back that to have boilers switching on/off within 15 mins of water heating starting could damage the boiler. They did make it clear that you could put the timer/schedule on for 30 mins and cancel it after any number of minutes …. Which I’ve tried and it does work. As such, set the timer to start 15 mins before you wake up and then cancel it when you wake up (stopping it at 15 mins). That’s as good as it’s likely to get right now. I must say that the feedback given was quick, detailed and friendly so I can’t complain about that and they have said that the developers will continue to look at it in the future.

In some ways I can understand not allowing a minimum of 15 minutes but why can't I set my hot water schedule to whatever I want. If I want it to be 38 minutes then I should be allowed to have it like that!

I've only recently moved into a house with nest and will see how it is this winter for heating but it's on the verge of being ripped out and being replaced with a simple non-smart timer unit. The restrictions on this are insane.

This is rediculous. I would like to set the water heating to auto heat for 45 mins as 30 mins is too short. An hour is too long for energy efficiency purposes. It should be easily program on the nest software to allow someone set the duration on the hot water schedule for 45 mins daily, but no less than 30 mins to alleviate boiler concerns. At least that will save some people money. This app is supposed to be all about energy efficiency.

With the current energy crisis and soaring prices, I really don’t get why this is not an urgency to fix. I live in Europe and my energy bills have quadrupled over the past two months. This issue should be very very easy to solve by nest..

I’m afraid that it’s not going to happen. Whilst I had very good dialogue with Nest it was very clear that this is not considered to be important enough to feature on any priority list.

ridiculous - any thermostat should have down to the minute options to be on and off. If they don't sort this. I am going to get rid of the one installed in my house, more archaic than the old rounded timers you had to set with miniature teeth, they were far better! Crazy! My last house had a bluetooth device that was a doodle to change.
