I’ve a NEST for a holiday let. I have set a schedule for when guests are there and turn it off manually when they aren’t. But, I notice that the app shows there is permanent heating even though the schedule should have heating only for 3 hours in the morning and 4 in the late afternoon/evening. Why is the heating on 24 hours when I have a schedule set?

Hi VikkiB,

Thanks for reaching out and sorry for the issue you're experiencing on not following your Nest Thermostat Temperature Schedules. Please try these steps.

On the Nest App:

Open the Nest App and select your Nest Thermostat icon.

Go to its Settings > Disable Auto-schedule.

Turn off Eco Temperatures by sliding the controls.

On the Nest Thermostat:

Go to its Settings > Eco Temperatures: Turn off both Heat to and Cool to.

Back to Settings > Nest Sense > Auto-Schedule: disable it.

Restart the thermostat, settings > reset > restart.

Keep me on the loop.

Regards,

Mark

Thank you for getting back to me. I think I have finally worked it out. I was up all night at the weekend wondering why it was heating all night, but it was because the temperature had been changed just after the last setting (to go off) before the 7 am setting, so it kept the new heating temperature until 7am 😞

What I realized was the temperature keeps until the next schedule, so I’ve set the temperature every 2 hours so if someone changes the temp it only lasts for 2 hours. Then I was confused about pre-heating. I thought I had turned off, but then realized it was only for the morning first temperature and not for others during the day. I wish it had been easier to understand all the controls, especially for holiday lets or 2nd homes. It has taken weeks, and days of checking the app every 30 minutes, and a couple of sleepless nights checking the app, to finally understand. Having no one to call on a helpline has been very frustrating. But, I am finally there! Thanks!!
