Hi, I have just purchased a Nest Thermostat E, it comes with a heat link (that replaces my thermostat on the wall) and a remote unit (usb powered) for adjusting the temp but what records the current temp, is it the heat link or the remote unit? (need to know so I know where to locate each of them)

Hi @oliversweb,

The Thermostat E unit itself records the current temperature in the room. 🙂

The heat link device communicates with your CV or whatever heat source you have connected to turn on or of when needed.

With your Nest thermostat and Heat Link, you can heat your home to the temperature you want, when you want. Here’s how the two devices work together:

Your Nest thermostat lets you set a schedule with specific times and temperatures. You can also turn your thermostat’s dial to select a new temperature any time you like.

Your thermostat senses the ambient temperature in your home. It can also take other factors into account, such as the current weather and how long your home usually takes to heat up and cool down.

To keep your home at the temperature you set, your thermostat will automatically turn heating on and off by sending a signal to Heat Link.

Hi @oliversweb,

The Heat Link has an extra temperature sensor, so it could be handy to see the temperature in a different location of the house, for example.

The Nest Thermostat E features a temperature sensor, humidity sensor, proximity and occupancy sensor, and an ambient light sensor. There is also an additional temperature sensor in the Heat Link.

This way, you have more insight into your house about the temperature. 🙂
