Nest Thermostat

Purchased a home and previous owners left their Nest Thermostat. How do I link the Nest to my phone? I don’t know what generation device or how to locate that info. I’ve never used/had a Nest product. It is linked to my home Wi-Fi. Thanks in advance for any help.

Here's where to find operating instructions: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9248184?hl=en. You need to go to the section for your model. Then scroll down to the subsection titled, "If you moved into a home with a Nest thermostat already installed" to see advice for your situation.
