Nest Thermostat Gen 3 frozen at House Screen during install

I’m in the process of replacing my existing nest GEN three thermostat with another one because we were having problems with it. We have the backer rod and the wires reinstalled and as I put the front plate on it gets to a house screen. White screen with a blue house and then nothing.
