Solved via support chat. Turns out despite my system's old wiring setup, I did in fact have a heat pump. In my case, this new wiring diagram solved it.

Setting up two nests on two different residential air handlers. First one with just the Red, White, Yellow, Green, Blue wires works great.

Setting up nest #2 on another floor I had R,W,Y,G,B again, but it also included a W2, S1 and S2 as well as a C wire.

Nest app explained that the S1 and S2 were sensors that were not needed and the C wire was also removed without any issue.

The problem I have is when I tested COOLING, I got only hot air. When I switched to HEATING, it seems nothing happened (after waiting a few minutes). This is a Conventional system (no heat pump).

One other curiosity, I don't know why in this case, but the wire plugged into the "W" terminal was orange colored, and the white wire was in the "W2" terminal in the old box, but it seemed to work in that system. I followed the Next instructions to the letter. Photos attached. Thank you for any help!
