Nest Thermostat Dial not working

My Nest Thermostat just stopped working. I can press it in and do a reset but I have no other functionality. The dial doesn't rotate to be able to select any of the commands. I cannot do it via wifi and app because reset caused it to lose connectivity to my wifi/internet. I also completely charged the unit. I swapped it out with my second nest thermostat and have the same issue so the wiring is fine with each base, just one of the nest thermostats lost functionality.

Any suggestions?

I had same issue. The optical sensor goes bad in them and they don't sell a new sensor. Online search shows this is a common problem. Google says my thermostat is bad now and I have to buy a new thermostat. I'm going with another brand now.

Same issue, came up in my house. I usually have the heat on on 73, but this evening I noticed it was on 76, I was like "Ok, maybe my wife turned it up". Then my wife tells me, "hey it's too hot in the house" and she went to check the thermostat, and it was on 79 😐

When we tried to adjust the temp, the dial would rotate, but wouldn't select anything. Is there any way to repair it? Or do we absolutely have to buy a new one? Also, how can I shut the HVAC off?

My nest dial won’t rotate to change functions. My app disconnected and need the dial to work.

The dial has failed on my Nest thermostat. I would consider other brand thermostats first.
