topic AC unit clicking noise in Nest Thermostats

We recently installed an AC unit and are using our Nest thermostat.

The AC unit is making a clicking noise when either the cooling or the heating turns off in the house. The guy who installed the system is saying that the Nest thermostats don't work with this system because they're a transistor and we should switch to Honeywell. I'd really prefer to keep using the Google Nest. He tried adding a relay, didn't work. Any suggestions I could get him to try urgently? We need to run our heat but also not annoy our neighbours with a constant clicking! @Jake

Hi Jenn2,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Nest Thermostat. I'd love to know more about this and I have a few questions:

What type of Nest Thermostat do you have?

How is your Nest Thermostat wired?

What is the power reading of your Nest Thermostat? You can find this info by going to Settings > Technical Info > Power.

If you haven't yet, you could click on this link for some troubleshooting steps you could try.

Thanks,

Edward
