Nest Thermostat Gen 1 won't turn on

Hi, my Nest thermostat won't turn on. It has a red flashing light blinking at the top of the unit. When I push the unit a green blinking light shows briefly and the display turns on for a moment before saying "restarting, back in a bit". I've tried charging the unit via the Micro-USB port, it stays on for a minute or two, but then goes back to the above state! Please advise. The Google Nest was relatively expensive (£160) and I've only had it for 1 to 2 years!!!

Hello Twoolf,

I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused you — let's sort this out.

It appears that your system may not provide enough power or any power to either the thermostat or a specific wire (so the thermostat can’t complete a circuit and might show a wiring report).

Please take a look at this guide to troubleshoot when your thermostat won't turn on and let us know how it goes.
