Thermostat off but heating on

I have turned the heating off on my app, but for the last 2 days, the radiators are pumping out hot air. The nest says the heating is off, and the app says there has been no usage for 2 days. However, we can't stop the heating! Can anyone help? Thank you.

Hi EO,

I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused you — let's see what's going on.

To isolate:

What type of Nest Thermostat do you have?
What wire connections does your thermostat have on its base?

Please give these steps a whirl:

Remove the thermostat display from the base and wait about five minutes.
1. if the heat turns off.
  1. Check the power status under the technical information settings.
2. if the heat stays on.
  1. Shut down the HVAC system at the breaker box. Ensure, as closely as possible, that all power to the system is off before proceeding.
  2. Remove the W and G wires and leave them disconnected.
  3. Leave the thermostat display off the base.
  4. Turn the power back on.
  5. Wait for a maximum of five minutes to see if the radiators still turn on and stay on with the display removed.
