I do not have access to the 4 digit pin and the thermostat is locked (I cannot access settings). How do i get access to the thermostat?

Hi mattlemaster,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I'd love to help.

To manually recover a locked Nest Thermostat that has been disconnected from Wi-Fi or has no access in the Nest App. Resetting it to its default settings might be needed, but this will lose all the saved settings and the settings learned by the thermostat. To do this, follow the steps here:

Remove the thermostat display from its base.
Insert the USB cable into the USB port on the back of the thermostat display, and attach the thermostat display to a computer (Windows, macOS, or ChromeOS) with the use of the USB cable.
Locate and open the folder or icon for the Nest device that should appear on the computer screen.
1. Look for the file named "technicalinfo.PLIST.
