I’ve had a solid running Nest for 6 years so wiring can’t be the issue.

Last week decided to paint living room. Powered down Nest to prevent hot-switching. Removed thermostat and loosened the decorative plate to paint behind it. Wires NEVER touched/tampered with.

Reinstalled.

Issues:

1) Nest thinks I have a heat pump. (Don’t)

2) Heat cycle always turns on A/C compressor while heating. Thankfully I caught this quickly. My A/C compressor is covered for the winter. Pulled the local lock-out tag-out plug at compressor electrical box outside as insurance to prevent ruining A/C compressor.

3) A call for heat if chilly upon waking, Nest tells me I can have my ‘new’ desired temperature in 2-1/2 hours. I’ve monitored and the darn device does its thing. Clearly not happy.

Done So Far:

-Reset with saving settings

-verified current software installed

- never, ever any displayed error messages.

-verified connection house to wi-fi (router 6 feet away from Nest)

So, what the heck is my next step??

Thanks.

FastFwd,

it would appear that your NVRAM in the nest thermostat has become corrupted and the thermostat has lost its setting in configuration. Now, when you say you performed a reset, did you go in and restart the installation process of the thermostat? To get your Nest thermostat back into working order, you might try the following steps.

1. Remove/Delete the nest thermostat in your home app or is your Nest app.
2. wake up your thermostat and rotate the ring to the Nest app app and delete the account.

This will cause a hard reset of the thermostat.
3. Start a new installation Process..
