OK it looks like you might have a heat pump base system with auxiliary heating. Best way to compare compatibility is to use the NASA compatibility checker. Your wires in use appear to be R With a jumper to RC, Y, O, G, W1, W2 and C. The wire on B is your C wire. The only odd thing is there is a black wire connected to X2 and that I’m not sure what it does or where it is controlling.

Thank Ken!! While I know what you said makes perfect sense to most, it’s so foreign to me. I don’t even know where to go from here. I tried looking up NASA compatibility checker for thermostat and it brought me back to your response to my original question. I’m beginning to think my Trane thermostat is not compatible with Nest.

Hi @EdwardT I’m thinking my old thermostat is not compatible with Nest, unfortunately. Thanks for checking in on me. I guess I should have done my research before getting the Nest thermostat.

Huggins, you Trane is a standard HVAC control system and the Nest Learning Thermostat is fully compatible with your system. I am sorry about the “NASA” compatibility checker, the apple autocorrect changed NEST to NASA. Argggg.. the Google Store has a Nest compatibility checker.

Something you need to understand with the compatibility checker and your current thermostat is that the X2 wire is your emergency heat, so enter it as an E to the Nest Compatibility checker

Hi @EdwardT thank you for checking in on me. I think I’m good for now. I have been traveling for work and haven’t been able to do the compatibility checker as @CoolingWizard suggested but will do it when I get back. Thanks again for all your help.
