I’d like to store wine in our crawl space at our second home and I'd love to be able to check the temp / get alerts in my Nest app (the hone uses Nest Thermostat) rather than buy a 3rd party product with its own app.

Is it possible to set up a nest thermostat sensor purely to read the temperature but not have the nest thermostat try to adjust the temp? Ideal scenario, Id like to have an alert at a certain temperature too.

Can someone answer this I was just thinking the exact same thing. It’s does say the sensor has 3 options. 1. Heating/cooling with thermostat 2. Don’t remember 3 only as a sensor. And if you are only using option 3 why would there be a limit on number of sensors 6 per thermostat. I don’t want the sensor used to heat or cool.

Hello there,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I'd love to help.

Yes. When you tap a thermostat in the Nest app, you can see all of the Nest Temperature Sensors that are linked to it. You can also compare your sensor’s temperature reading with the reading from your thermostat. Your thermostat also shows if your sensor is usually warmer, usually colder, or about the same as your thermostat. This can help you learn a little more about your home, including where you might want to move your temperature sensors and when you want your thermostat to use them.

Have a look at this article and let us know if you need more help.

Regards,

Mark
