Unable to add another Nest thermostat to app

I had a Nest E thermostat working already and purchased a new Nest Learning thermostat for another area of the house. New thermostat is working fine except when I try and add it to the app, it says my existing Nest device isn’t responding and gives me a TD030 error. If I remove the existing one it will let me add the new one, but not both. Tried using QR as well as manually, but same error either way. I reset thermostat to factory settings and tried again with same result. Firmware is up to date on both. All devices on same Wi-Fi network. Any thoughts? Thanks

@tbejamss, I appreciate that you've tried all the possible steps on your end. It appears that your thermostats won't communicate with each other, but going over these steps might help:

Create a new home structure in the Nest app and add the new thermostat.
Once successfully added, Go back to the original structure and remove the old thermostat.
1. Please follow this guide on how to create and remove structures.
Once removed. Go back to the new structure and add your old thermostat at home.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for reaching back out. It didn’t go exactly as planned, but I was able to create two different home locations with one thermostat for one and one for the other. I have to toggle in the app to get to them, but at least they’re both available now. I’ll go through the instruction again to see if I missed something, but have a temp solution.

Hello there,

Great troubleshooting so far, @tbejamss. I know it's not ideal to have different structures for each thermostat in one location. This time, removing your old thermostat from your old structure and adding it back to the new one would be the last step. But no pressure! You can continue the steps whenever you are available, and I would appreciate hearing the outcome.
