Trane Heat Pump with Aux Heat not compatible

I have a Trane Heat pump with aux propane heat. Trying to install Nest thermostat. It’s telling me it’s incompatible when I enter my wiring details. Sharing a pic. Just want to confirm I haven’t entered something wrong before sending back? Thanks in advance

Thanks for reaching out and sharing the photo of your current thermostat's wiring. It looks like this would work with a Nest Learning Thermostat but I want to make sure. Could you share the make and model of your current thermostat?

Thanks for responding. Pic attached below- I have two I’d like to install - both shown. The one on top is wiring I’d posted previously.

Hi TNRazorbacker,

Thanks for sharing the model of your current thermostat. The OT1 and OT2 wires are for the outdoor temp. You don't need to wire these 2 on your Nest Thermostat as it get its outdoor temperature information from the internet.

Both my units are heat pumps with auxiliary heat that kicks on when the temp drops below a set temp. Is there anything I need to do from a settings standpoint to make sure this works properly? Thanks for the help

So I have a Nest Learning thermostat and when I put my wires in during the installation process it tells me a pro installer is required? I don’t really want to pay for that. Is that truly needed based on my wiring?
