Nest wiring question

I have two tstats (one for upstairs, one for downstairs). I took out a Honeywell Pro series and both had the white wire on the W2 but the Nest setup had me connect the white wire to the W1 slot. Does that sound correct? It is a new home with an all electric system and I’m not 100% confident in what specific system I have

You have a Heat Pump system with Auxiliary electric heat coils that kick on when its really cold outside most likely.

As long as it sets up the W1 as your Aux heat it should be fine.

Did it ask you about setting up the Heat Pump Balance settings?

Read this it explains how it adjusts the system when to use the Aux heat coils for best efficiency.

Thank you for the reply. No, it never asked about setting up the balance settings but I will take a look at that. I just couldn’t figure out why it would have me connect to W1 and not W2, like the previous one was.

You can move it to W2 Aux if it does not seem to be working.

I think it can use either W for the Aux heat on the Learning Model as long as it was defined during setup as being for Aux heat on W1

I think it seems to be working ok. I just wish I knew if it’s causing long term damage to my system or running the most efficient.
