I can't get past setup - won't connect to app on my phone

I can't even get past setup. Error message (after spinning for up to 10 minutes) says cannot be connected, try again. I restarted my phone (yes has latest update), deleted: Home app, "home" network. restarted (multiple times): router, phone, Home App. Reset the Nest, changed batteries (even though brand new)! Nothing worked. I called Google, tried all the above, didn't work. I have a Samsung Z3 flip.

Thanks for reaching out. I see that you've already tried some steps to resolve the issue. I'd love to know more about what's happening. Could you share the case number of your interaction with our team? Also, to isolate the issue, could you try setting it up using a different device?
