Is this a Heat Pump system?

Or a AC and gas heat system with 2 stage heat?

If it is a heat pump you use outer labels on old tstat.

So if you have a heat pump with aux electric heat then you wired it wrong.

Orange should go to OB it is what turns on the heat pump reversing valve outside (it should not be on W1).

Please see my prior images. Currently I matched my wires to the google provided wire diagram, yet idk which is correct.

Hi DilanPSmead,

I understand that the wiring setup can be confusing. Depending on your system, I can confirm what Houptee said: if you have a 2nd-stage heat system, you wired your Nest Thermostat correctly; if you have a heat pump system, move the orange wire to the O/B terminal and restart it for the wiring changes prompt. To verify, could you tell us the make and model of your system?

Heat pump - RPQL-024JEZ

you all confirm to me the wiring setup because I’m using what the prompt said for now. The brown wire is connected as per the image on my original post.

Hey there,

Thanks for confirming that about your system. From your Nest Thermostat's wiring, move the orange wire to the O/B terminal and reconfigure its wiring by restarting it. Then, check its equipment settings to see if it's already configured as a heat pump system, and let us know how it goes.

Red to RC

Blue to C

Orange to O/B

White to W1

Yellow to Y1

Green to G

Then make sure it is set up as Heat Pump forced air heat

with Aux heat on W1

Then you have to set up Heat Pump Balance setting to adjust how it uses the Aux electric heat coils.

This didnt seem to help our house is sitting at 69 When I told it to be at 60 heat and 64 cold. Please advise. Something still isn’t right. I had an pro install it and I’m afraid it’s wrong still.

Why do I feel like the nest learning isn’t saving me energy. I feel my energy usage since is installing it has gone up, not down.

my bill from Jan 20 Said 13,312 and now it’s Feb 2 and my usage is 14,150. I have tried to tweak my thermostat settings but still I feel that it’s burning more energy then my last thermostat.

I have a daily schedule set as so

6:30am 62-65

8:30am 65-68

9:30pm 60-64

should I turn on early on? Or what else can I do to help.

the heat pump will only turn on alt heat below 34 degrees Fahrenheit.

I also have the eco mode set at

59 heat and cooling off.

please help.
