It’s worth also noting the app thinks I have a forced air heat and when I go into settings/ equipment on the thermostat, there’s no way to change it to the correct heat source.

I’m attempting to upgrade a regular Nest Thermostat to a 3rd generation learning thermostat. It’s a steam boiler system with the wires. W, Rh, and C. It works fine with with the regular nest. The learning thermostat can’t decide if there is no power to Rh or no power to C. Power is confirmed. Wires set and reset multiple times. I have reinstalled the regular nest and it’s working.

I have reset and rebooted. And sometimes it doesn’t like Rh and sometimes it doesn’t like C.

Suggestions?

Hi Betsy3,

Thanks for reaching out — I'm sorry for the delay. Your Nest Learning Thermostat might be receiving an overflowing power. Could you please try to disconnect your C wire to your thermostat and see if the issue persists? Sometimes power wire is enough to provide sufficient power to your thermostat.

Best,

Jenelyn

I ended up swapping the W and R wires from where they were in the basic nest and it worked and continues to work. Thank you!
